布兰迪斯大学是波士顿地区五大名校之一，相比波士顿地区动辄上百年历史的邻居们，1948年建校的布兰迪斯大学显然属于小字辈。但自从US News开始对美国综合大学进行排名以来，布兰迪斯大学从未跌出过前35名的傲人成绩，却让人不得不对这个年轻的私立大学刮目相看。布兰迪斯大学60%的大一新生是高中班级的前十名，超过80%的课堂学生数是少于30人的。

布兰迪斯大学每年在本科学生身上投入的资源约合人均29000美金，平均每笔奖学金金额达到了20000美元。布兰迪斯大学的众多专业中，以理科与商科最为出名。商学院的教授均来自世界银行、哈佛、耶鲁等著名的地点，其非经验类金融硕士项目排名全美第1。生物化学、物理等理科专业持续排名全美前10-前30。为了保持学校在自然科学以及跨学科领域的领先地位，布兰迪斯大学投入1亿5千万美元修建了总面积达17万5000平方英尺的科技园，园内有研究室、教室、咖啡厅等设施，并于2009年正式启用。
